El dolor y la enfermedad en las películas de los años noventa. ¿Una nueva sensibilidad?

Abstract
A finales de los años ochenta, una bocanada de aire fresco y renovado pareció abrirse paso en la trillada y convencional estrategia de las grandes compañías hollywoodienses. La atención a los disminuidos físicos, a los incapacitados y a los enfermos – en una palabra, a los que sufren – apareció ante la vista de los ejecutivos como un tema nuevo, de insólita y eficaz sintonía para el público. Como consecuencia, y en el breve plazo de un lustro, productoras de muy variada tendencia pusieron en marcha películas que ahondaban en el sensible y delicado tema del dolor y de la enfermedad.
