Cotidianeidad y forma narrativa en Al faro de Virginia Woolf

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo presenta la relación entre la forma narrativa y la cotidianeidad en la novela Al faro (1927) de Virginia Woolf. Para ello se ha analizado la ruptura entre el realismo y el modernismo literario. Ambos movimientos focalizan y entienden la realidad desde perspectivas distintas: el realismo plasma la realidad desde una perspectiva externa, mientras que el modernismo representa la realidad obedeciendo a asuntos subjetivos e internos. Para ejemplificar y estudiar la nueva manera de expresar la realidad, se analizará la forma narrativa y el tema de la cotidianeidad de la novela. En primer lugar, se examinará el uso de los distintos niveles diegéticos, del narrador y del tiempo para entender la forma narrativa. En segundo lugar, se explicará cómo se plasma la noción y la sensación de lo cotidiano. Por último, se explicará la relación que existe entre la forma narrativa y la cotidianeidad.

The following work presents the relationship between the narrative form and everyday life in the novel To the Lighthouse (1927) by Virginia Woolf. To do this, the break between realism and literary modernism has been analyzed. Both movements focus and understand reality from different perspectives: realism captures reality from an external perspective, while modernism represents reality in response to subjective and internal issues. To exemplify and study the new way of expressing reality, the narrative form and the theme of everyday life in the novel will be analyzed. First, the use of different diegetic levels, the narrator and time to understand the narrative form will be examined. Secondly, it will be explained how the notion and sensation of everyday life is expressed. Finally, the relationship that exists between the narrative form and everyday life will be explained.
