Consecuencias psicológicas derivadas de una mastectomía tras un cáncer de mama sin metástasis: Una revisión sistemática de la literatura

Introducción: El cáncer de mama es el cáncer más frecuente en la mujer. El diagnóstico precoz unido a las mejoras de tratamiento, han posibilitado una considerable disminución de la tasa de mortalidad de la enfermedad, ya que cada vez más mujeres sobreviven al cáncer de mama. La calidad de vida se ha convertido en el foco principal de la investigación y práctica clínica. El cáncer de mama para muchas mujeres implica una situación que les afecta física y psicológicamente, de entre otras. Uno de los momentos en los que se ven más emociones implicadas es posterior al tratamiento, a consecuencia de la mastectomía. Esto provoca en las mujeres afectadas respuestas emocionales negativas, generalmente asociadas con aspectos de feminidad, sexualidad, maternidad, imagen corporal e identidad femenina. Objetivo: Realizar una revisión sistemática con el fin de describir cuáles son las consecuencias psicológicas de una mastectomía tras sufrir un cáncer de mama sin metástasis en mujeres de 45 a 65 años. Metodología: Se ha realizado una estrategia de búsqueda en tres bases de datos: PubMed, CINAHL y PsycINFO. La estrategia resultó en un total de 146 artículos. Finalmente se seleccionaron 10 publicaciones científicas para ser analizadas en esta revisión. Resultados: Mediante la revisión sistemática se han identificado las principales consecuencias psicológicas que son, principalmente, los trastornos con la percepción de la imagen corporal, la depresión y los trastornos de ansiedad. Los resultados encontrados también muestran coincidencias en la importancia de del abordaje precoz y la anticipación de estos problemas de ajuste psicológico. Conclusión: Muchas mujeres sienten una gran consternación ante la pérdida de esta parte de su cuerpo, produciendo en ellas diversos problemas psicológicos. En esta revisión, se demuestra que someterse a una mastectomía afecta de manera importante a la percepción de la imagen corporal, generando en la mayoría de ocasiones depresión y ansiedad.
