Abstract
Los tratamientos convencionales de grabado utilizados sobre cerámicas dentales con alto contenido silíceo, dirigidos a
mejorar su adhesión a resinas compuestas (es decir, tanto los tratamientos que aplican ácido fluorhídrico, como los que
pulverizan partículas de óxido de aluminio), resultan poco fiables para el tratamiento de cerámicas de óxido de zirconio.
El acondicionamiento con láser puede ser una buena alternativa. El propósito de este estudio in vitro fue comparar los
valores de adhesión, obtenidos a partir del grado de resistencia a fuerzas de cizalla (shear bond strength), entre resina
compuesta y muestras de cerámica de óxido de zirconio que fueron procesadas con distintos tratamientos
micromecánicos de superficie, así como examinar visualmente las diferencias entre las distintas rugosidades de superficie
obtenidas. Ciento cincuenta discos de zirconia sinterizada se dividieron al azar en 5 grupos y se trataron de la siguiente
manera: (1) Grupo NOT (n=30), las muestras no recibieron ningún tratamiento micromecánico de superficie, y sirvió de
grupo control; (2) Grupo APA, las superficies de las muestras se pulverizaron con partículas de óxido de aluminio de 50
μm (Al2O3); (3) Grupo TBS, se pulverizaron con partículas de óxido de aluminio de 30 μm silicatizadas, esto es,
recubiertas con sílice; (4) Grupo CO2, se irradiaron las muestras de zirconia con un láser de CO2; y (5) Grupo FEM, se
irradiaron con un láser de femtosegundos. Posteriormente todas las muestras se imprimaron con una mezcla de
promotores químicos de la adhesión consistente en un adhesivo dental y un silano que contenían monómeros funcionales
10-MDP. Sobre las superficies de zirconia así preparadas se construyeron unos cilindros de resina compuesta que fueron
polimerizados. Se midió la fuerza de adhesión y se observaron algunas muestras mediante microscopía electrónica de
barrido (SEM) después de haber recibido tratamiento micromecánico y antes de su imprimación. Se encontraron
diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p<0,05) entre todos los grupos, excepto entre CO2 y el FEM, que mostraron
los valores de adhesión más altos (15,12 ± 2,35 MPa y 16,03 ± 2,73 MPa). La microscopía electrónica de barrido reveló
diferencias en los patrones de rugosidad superficial. Irradiar con láser de CO2 puede ser una alternativa a la aplicación de
alúmina (Al2O3), aunque así también podría debilitarse la cerámica. Se pueden obtener patrones superficiales adecuados
en cerámica de zirconia con radiación de pulsos ultra-cortos como la emitida por un láser de femtosegundos.
