Abstract
En este artículo los autores ponen de manifiesto la incidencia que la Guerra Fría tuvo en el terreno educativo y, especialmente, en el desarrollo y el fomento de la educación comparada. En este sentido, el lanzamiento del Sputnik el 4 de octubre de 1957 marcó un punto de inflexión y, así, Occidente fijó su mirada en el sistema educativo de la Unión Soviética. Por ello, la educación comparada —una disciplina de larga tradición en el ámbito de la Pedagogía— encontró un campo abonado para su desarrollo, con autores como Juan Tusquets (1901-1998), que la introdujo como materia universitaria en España, y el norteamericano de origen polaco George Z. F. Bereday (1920-1983), cuyas obras metodológicas y sobre la educación soviética circularon en nuestro país. En fin, la Guerra Fría también tuvo su correlato pedagógico en el estudio social y educativo de la Unión Soviética, sobre todo en los años de más tensión entre 1957 y 1969.
