La imagen de la caballería y de su ética después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial: los nuevos horizontes

Abstract

Tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la caballería deviene un cuerpo absolutamente obsoleto en el ejército. Sin embargo, se asiste a una «reorientación» de su imagen y de la ética caballeresca, observable en diferentes campos, que se extienden del ámbito académico al lúdico, ya que, debido a su prestigio y a su trayectoria heroica, se empleará, por un lado, para resituar a las fuerzas armadas en el nuevo contexto, y, por el otro, para tratar de integrar a la caballería y su ética en la sociedad de postguerra.

After Second World War, the cavalry became an absolutely obsolete combat arm. However, there was a «reorientation» of its image and chivalric ethics, observable in different fields, which extend from the academic to the recreational sphere, since, due to its prestige and its heroic career, it will be used, on the one hand, to relocate the armed forces in the new context, and, on the other, to try to integrate the cavalry and its ethics into post-war society.
