La medicina en la posmodernidad

Abstract

La posmodernidad se autointerpreta como una clara apuesta por el progreso mundial y se constituye como la siguiente etapa en la llamada época moderna. Como movimiento cultural y social abarca múltiples segmentos de la sociedad, entre ellos la medicina, que no es ajena a la banalización y simplificación del pensamiento, características del hombre posmoderno. Se distingue entre la medicina científica e hipocrática de la asistencia médica, esta mucho más vulnerable en los ejes vertebradores de la posmodernidad. La posmodernidad no es exactamente compatible con el método científico que la medicina utiliza, pero sí que aporta reflexión al cuestionar los límites de la razón y de la experiencia.

Postmodernity is self-interpreted as a clear commitment to world progress and is constituted as the next stage to the so-called modern age. As a cultural and social movement, it encompasses multiple segments of society, including medicine, which is no stranger to the trivialization and simplification of thought, characteristics of postmodern man. A distinction is made between scientific and Hippocratic medicine and medical care, it is much more vulnerable in the backbone of postmodernity. Postmodernity is not exactly compatible with the scientific method that medicine uses, but it does provide reflection by questioning the limits of reason and experience.
