The Cultural sector in Spain has progressively shown a decline in funding, projects and attendance, and being Barcelona the leader in Performing Arts with a high volume of activity, it’s important to create awareness to the industry in order to recuperate from this struggling period (see “The Need” in Annex 1a). A non-for-profit Centre is proposed that focuses on providing quality services and resources for Performers from the Dance, Theatre and Circus sectors, resident in Catalonia, with special attention to giving fair chances and opportunities to artists that represent minorities trying to thrive in Barcelona. With the intent of maintaining the economic value that Culture contributes for Spain’s GDP and the number of artists, technical and administrative professionals, as well as managers that the Performing Arts employ, IBERACT proposes a project that desires to improve the sectors mentioned before. Through the extensive and established network of resources that Barcelona offers, there’s a possibility to promote a greater professionalisation of active companies and increase attendance at performing venues and circuits by the general public.
