Abstract
La Historia de la Humanidad es una secuencia de acontecimientos que alternan experiencias de paz y violencia, de justicia e injusticia, de sufrimiento y reconciliación. A pesar de ello, predomina excesivamente una historia de guerras, tiranías y genocidios, que sobredimensiona la violencia como motor de la historia y predispone la sociedad a continuar por el mismo camino al no conocer alternativas. En cambio, la Historia de la Humanidad contiene una rica tradición de episodios de paz, noviolencia y reconciliación que han propulsado innumerables avances de la civilización humana, especialmente en términos de solidaridad social y de progreso moral. Este artículo reivindica la urgencia de revelar la Historia de la Paz a través del análisis de tres casos emblemáticos de construcción de la paz y de integración social durante el siglo XX: la reconciliación moral de Alemania tras sus trágicos episodios de guerra y genocidio, la lucha por los derechos civiles en Estados Unidos promovida por Martin Luther King y la reconciliación socio-política en Sudáfrica bajo el liderazgo inspirador de Nelson Mandela.
