Abstract
L’anatomia i la morfologia del conductes radiculars dels molars, presenten uns trets determinats. Existeixen nombroses classificacions en l’especialitat d’endodòncia (odontologia), que ens mostren el recorregut del teixit pulpar desde la zona més coronal a l’àpex de la dent. Una de les més utilitzades actualment, és la classificació de Vertucci. Però, com eren els molars de fa més de 4.000 anys? És aplicable aquesta clasificació a les restes fòssils?
Amb l’arribada de les noves tecnologies com el Cone Bean Computer Tomography (CBCT) existeix la possibilitat d’estudiar internament, les restes fòssils d’una mostra com la que pertany a la Cueva de el Mirador (Atapuerca), amb la gran avantage de no ser destruïda. Es tracta de restes arqueològiques del Calcolític i de l’Edat de Bronze, amb una cronologia del 4.760-4.200 cal. A.P. L’estudi intern dels conductes radiculars, ens ensenyaran si ha hagut canvis significatius fins a arribar a l’home actual, si les dades aconseguides es poden relacionar amb corrents migratòries, i si presenten trets característics de la raça a la que pertanyen.
La anatomía y la morfología de los conductos radiculares de los molares, presentan unas características determinadas. Existen numerosas clasificaciones en la especialidad de la endodoncia (odontología), que nos describen el recorrido del tejiido pulpar desde la zona más coronal al ápice de un diente. Una de la más utilizadas actualmente, es la clasificación de Vertucci. Pero, ¿cómo eran los molares de hace más de 4.000 años? ¿Es aplicable esta clasificación en restos fósiles?
Con la llegada de las nuevas tecnologías como el Cone Bean Computer Tomography (CBCT) existe la posibilidad de estudiar internamente, los restos fósiles de una muestra como la perteneciente a la Cueva de El Mirador (Atapuerca), con la gran ventaja de no destruirla. Se tratan de restos arqueológicos pertenecientes al Calcolítico y a la Edad de Bronce, cuya cronología va del 4.760-4.200 cal. A.P. El estudio interno de los conductos radiculares, nos mostraran si han habido cambios significativos hasta el llegar al hombre actual, si los resultados los podemos relacionar con corrientes migratorias, y si presentan rasgos característicos de raza.
