Abstract
La finalidad principal de esta investigación es la de presentar y poner de relieve cómo mediante la exploración de los distintos sistemas geométricos, ya sean de mayor o menor complejidad, flexibles o rígidos, podremos desenvolvernos en la resolución de formas que den respuestas a las necesidades objetivas que la sociedad nos exija y que a la vez abran nuevos caminos de exploración espacial y arquitectónica.
Para ello la tesis se estructura en 3 partes bien diferenciadas.
Antecedentes históricos: un conjunto de ejemplos en la historia de la Arquitectura, empezando en la antigüedad: Stonehenge, Pirámides de Gizeh, Partenón, Panteón, pasando por el gótico, renacimiento, barroco e Ilustración. Se plantean a partir de aquí la hipótesis de la investigación.
La segunda parte de esta investigación, como elemento troncal, se centra en detectar y exponer de forma concentrada un conjunto de ejemplos de la historia del S. XX donde la investigación y desarrollo de formas arquitectónicas se han realizado a partir de planteamientos geométricos complejos. Este estudio preliminar servirá para apoyar el discurso teórico-práctico que le seguirá.
A lo largo de su trayectoria, o en momentos puntuales, este conjunto de autores recurrió en sus obras y proyectos a la exploración de geometrías alternativas a las euclídeas. Se propone una organización coherente de los ejemplos ofreciendo una visión histórica del siglo XX alternativa a la interpretación canónica del periodo que transcurre entre las vanguardias y la post-modernidad. Estos autores permitirán establecer diversas analogías puesto que, a pesar de sus distintas adscripciones, abordaron sus proyectos con un enfoque común: la exploración geométrica.
La tercera parte se centra en un caso de estudio vivido desde la proximidad: El Jardín Botánico de Barcelona (1988-2016). Se enumeran y analizan los objetivos iniciales del proyecto, así como su evolución durante el proceso, o lo que hemos identificado como los retos y el despliegue de la geometría durante el proceso proyectual.
Finalmente se evalúan los resultados del proyecto. Es decir, comprobamos el papel que ha tenido la geometría durante el proceso proyectual e identificamos los aspectos trascendentales del mismo para extraer conclusiones, y a su vez estas se refieren al objetivo íntegro de la investigación.
